Harbinger

I am the ashes of simpler days
The will of my origins runs through my veins
The millions before me have been laid to waste
Their bones made the mountains their blood filled the plains

Worship the terror, build it a home
Suffer together or face me alone

I wade through an ocean made crimson red
Bathing among the millions of dead
Drinking in deep from the thick soup of gore
Feeling revived as I step on to shore

Worship the hatred, build it a home
Suffer the fear or face it alone

The wars that we wage over thousands of years
Crippled the populous with their own fear
Submitting their lives to the crack of a whip
A word of defiance won't pass through their lips

The will of your leaders constructed your tomb
No profits or preachers predict their own doom
They lead all the weak down to the unknown
Rather than suffer their fate on their own

The Tale of the Cannibal

All the scrapes and scars                          (Am,C,E,Am))
On the cannibal's heart,
Never get the time to heal.                        (C,E,Am)

And, his animal bones
Won't leave him alone
Always seekin' out his next meal.

Trampled under toe,                                                (C,E,Am)
His own scaffolding would fold.
You know, you can't compete with mass appeal.

Any bargain is a bribe
Seen through his two beady eyes;
When the bullets fly you're his human shield.       (E,Am)

Those possessed by greed,                           (Dm,Am,E,Am)
Mite as well just feed
Off the flesh of their own kind.
When obsessed with jealousy,
It's impossible to see
How eye's for eye's will make us all blind.

He had no shame in his soul.
Said he'd lost all control
When he realized, we all die alone.

At the tender age of eight
It was already too late...
In his heart, the hatred made a home.

When he met one of his kin,
They were lookin' kinda thin...
'Til they sucked dry his cannibal bones

So I hope you think twice,
If hurting people is your vice,
Now that this animal's story is known.

Fingers

Tiny little fingers, spring from the ground
Under everything there, another one sprouts
Given enough time, they should take forms of hands
Providing shelter, to all of the land

Two trees are sprouting, from our of our arms
Most used for loving, but some times for harm
I try to use mine, the best that I can
Inspired by fingers, that grew in to hands

The trees and our hands, learn in similar ways
Bark and skin thicken, through rougher days
They change with the seasons
The things that they do
When your hands commit treason
How would trees handle you?
