In a shallow grave,
Should I die, would you bury me?
Somewhere by the oceans bay.
With the earth barely hiding me.
In a shallow grave,
In the sand still wet from the sea.
Tell the ocean to send it's waves,
So the barnacles can feed off me.
And should I sink in to the sand,
Please do not shed a tear.
For when I'm not a living man,
I will not disappear.
Should these feet start peeking out,
Of the soft eroding beach;
Take comfort knowing I'm about,
To go home to the sea.
In a shallow grave,
Toss away that old husk of me.
No longer that body's slave.
Just living on in memories
In a shallow grave,
Please, make sure it's not too deep.
Watch me as I'm whisked away,
Because none of us are here for keeps.
And when I sink in to the sand,
Please do not shed a tear.
For once I'm not a living man,
I will not disappear.
And when these feet start peeking out,
Of the soft eroding land;
Take comfort knowing I'm about,
To head out just as planned.
