Sonnet 1

For one more day to spend alone with you,
I'd spill my own cold blood out on the floor.
Would I do what most think they could not do?
To revisit those days where we got bored.

I'm no realist but loss can be unreal,
And I can't seem to leave it all to fate.
The afterlife-for me-holds no appeal;
The dark arts or science might show the way.

But I could lose much more than I would gain,
I'd tear apart the thinner threads of time.
Likely enduring some new kind of pain,
To tell you things that have been on my mind.

       I'd do it again, for every lost friend;
       All wounds have to heal... so why should lives end?
